Our History

Our Vision Journeying with Jesus, building community together.

Rooted in this vision, our parish is called to walk faithfully with Christ, fostering a spirit of communion, service, and unity among all members of the community.

Our History & Heritage:
Founded in 1934, Our Lady of the Assumption Parish has faithfully served the Catholic community of Port Coquitlam for over ninety years.

Situated within a growing and diverse city, the parish has accompanied generations of the faithful in their spiritual lives, sacramental participation, and commitment to Christian service.

The present church stands as a visible sign of faith and continuity. Over time, it has undergone renewal and development to meet the pastoral needs of the community, culminating in the solemn consecration of the church in 2011, a significant milestone in the life of the parish.

In addition to liturgical life, the parish remains committed to Catholic education and formation, supporting the spiritual development of children, youth, and families within the wider community.

Our Mission
Our Lady of the Assumption Parish is dedicated to:

The reverent celebration of the Eucharist and the Sacraments
The formation of disciples through catechesis and ongoing faith development
The service of others in charity, justice, and pastoral care

In fidelity to the teachings of the Church, we seek to build a community grounded in faith, guided by the Holy Spirit, and responsive to the needs of the times.

Our Community:
Our parish community reflects the richness and diversity of the universal Church. United in faith, we strive to cultivate a spirit of welcome, reverence, and mutual support.

As we continue to grow, we remain committed to preserving our traditions while responding faithfully to the pastoral needs of the present and future.
