Overview

Guards of Honor are "Consolers of the Heart of Jesus, Eucharistic Adorers and Prayer Warriors".
The "Guard of Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus" is new in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, but it is a worldwide Eucharistic Association approved by the universal Church which has its beginning in the Sisters of Visitation at Bourg-en-Bresse, France. It is intimately tied to the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus popularized by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. In response to Jesus' lament when he looked for one to console His wounded heart and found none, it gathers together souls who are willing to stand watch with Jesus and to love Him in reparation for the many offenses, indifference and forgetfulness Jesus suffers daily in the Blessed Sacrament and in the hearts of men. We are the Guardians of the Heart of Christ - someone who watches while others sleep, who loves while others forget.
Our mission: We live in a time when God is increasingly forgotten. The Eucharist is often received without reverence. Churches are empty in many parts of the world. Sacrileges happen even in sacred places. Many Christians live as if the Lord were not present - even though He is truly, truly present in the Tabernacle, waiting in silence. He is greatly offended. Our Hour of Presence maybe silent. It may feel small. But in heaven, it is immense. By offering our Hour of Presence faithfully, we hope to: spread devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which somehow has been weakened, if not forgotten; strengthen the Church through unseen grace; console the Heart of Jesus who waits alone in the tabernacles; spread the apostolate to other parishes so that more souls may make acts of love, thanksgiving and reparation for the sins of the world and be part of a global spiritual movement offering perpetual worship and companionship to the Heart of Jesus; educate others in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist so that Eucharistic adoration may increase in parishes and the world; transform our daily life into a living prayer.
We serve: Jesus, the Church, the Lay faithful, the world.
Date & time: First Thursday Bible Study and First Friday Prayers for members able to attend VIA ZOOM; Holy Mass on First Fridays and Eucharistic Adoration; Holy Hour on First Fridays 2-3Pm at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish; half-day Recollections once a year and Silent Retreats once a year.
